Welcome to the website of St John of Chicago Orthodox Church, a mission of The Orthodox Church in America. We are a group of dedicated Christians, striving to worship God in spirit and in truth.  Our desire is to share the ancient Orthodox Christian faith with all of Northwest Arkansas including Bentonville, Fayetteville, Lowell, Rogers and Springdale.

We encourage you to spend some time exploring our website and learning about the Orthodox Christian Faith which was “once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).  Whether you are already an Orthodox Christian or not, we invite you to visit our parish, as no amount of reading is a substitute for the experience of an Orthodox worship service.

If you would like to learn more about the Orthodox Christian Church, or are an Orthodox Christian who needs to be part of the sacramental life of a parish family, we invite you to "come and see." For more information you may email us at our mission email address.  You may also contact our priest, Fr. John Maxwell, directly - his contact information is here.

Important News about Our Parish

We are pleased to announce the coming of Fr. John Wehling to our parish as our new priest. Beginning September 1, 2014, Fr. John will be working full-time as the priest-in-charge, splitting his time equally between St. John of Chicago Mission and Ss. George and Alexandra Mission, our sister parish in Fort Smith. He will be residing with his family in Rogers.

He and his wife, Anne Marie, have been married for 25 years and have three children: two sons in their 20s and an 11-year-old daughter. After college he attended Asbury Theological Seminary and was a Protestant pastor for four years prior to joining the Orthodox Church. He attended St. Tikhon's Seminary and was ordained in 2003. He served two parishes prior to coming to Arkansas: St. Matthew in Green Bay, Wisconsin and Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church in Livonia, Michigan.

Fr. John Maxwell will be an attached priest at St. John while Fr. Paul Fetsko will be attached to Ss. George and Alexandra. This will allow both parishes to continue services each weekend. Fr. John Wehling will alternate weekends at each parish with Fr. John Maxwell serving the other weekends at St. John while Fr. Paul will serve at Ss. George and Alexandra. During the week, Fr. John Wehling will split his time between each parish.
